| Criteria Of Choice In The Clinical Practice For The Restorations Of Posterior Teeth |

During the past 5-10 years the socio-economic changes, the diminished prevalence of tooth caries, the higher aesthetic demand of patiens as well as the controversies risen because of the potential toxicity of the amalgam, have contributed to the development of materials and techniques for the aesthetics adhesive restoration in the posteriors teeths together with the traditional restoration materials.
a) Objectives of investogation: to provide consistent criteria that can lead correctly the operator in the conservative rehabilitation stages of the posterior sectors. The criteria are listed and subdivided in two different groups: GR 1 General parameters - GR 2 Specifics parameters, that will be analyzed one by one.
b) Method: it refers to what mentioned in dental literature, to the results obtained at the 1° Closed Meeting A.I.C. 1997 concerning this subject, to ten years of private clinical pratice.
c) Key results: the various possibility of restorations and their own indications are analyzed with the support of several case-reports:
1 - Direct (Am. Ag) and Indirect (gold inlay and onlay) Metal Traditional Restorations.
2 - Direct, Semidirect,Indirect (composite resins and ceramic inlay-onlay) Adhesive Restorations.
3 - Prosthetic Restorations (Ceramo-Metallic Crown and Auro-Galva Crown)
d) Conlusions: the extent of the residual healthy dental tissues and their relative morphology, with the supplement of the different upmentioned patameters, establish the most appropriate materials and techniques for every single case. This choice will have its effect on the final shape of the cavity and on the margins design.
