In dental crown fracture, dental fragments can be used for the immediate conservative rehabilitation. So we can take into account the importance of protocols for immediate care in relation to fragment conservation and reattachment, including the treatment of the injured tooth pulp.
Aim of the work:
The aim of this work was to analyse patient reporting crown fractures associated with subsequently fragment reattachment among 1414 patients with dental trauma, observed in Brescia Dental Clinic from Jan 1996 until Dec 1999. The work study included treatment and long-term follow-up (2-5 years).
Results:
Samples were selected from 1414 patients with dental trauma, all cases of permanent teeth crown fractures were considered. Therefore a group of 421 subjects was chosen , with a total of 523 coronal fractures. One or more crown fragments were recuperated in 44% of cases. Upper central incisors resulted as the most injured teeth. In 37% of cases contemporary fractures of 1.1 and 2.1 were observed.
Conclusions:
In our clinical experience, fragment reattachment is more acceptable by patients. Fragment reattachment shows good results not only as a true biological reparation, but also aesthetically and in functional rehabilitation.
