Aesthetic and function of traumatically avulsed teeth can be restored through a correct replacement, on the base of an operative protocol chosen according to individual clinical records.

Aim of the work:
The aim of this work was to analyse patients reporting traumatic dental avulsion among 1414 patients with dental trauma, observed in Brescia Dental Clinic from Jan 1996 until Dec 1999. The work study included treatment and long-term follow-up (6-12 months).

Results:
Samples were selected from 1414 patients with dental trauma, all cases of permanent and deciduous teeth traumatic dental avulsion were considered. A group of 250 cases (155 deciduous and 95 permanent) was chosen, with 56 cases of reimplantation (3 deciduous and 53 permanent). Upper central incisors resulted as the most injured teeth in 68% of cases. In 77% of cases was necessary an endodontic treatment (41% immediate as a consequence of a prolonged extra-oral permanence of the teeth and 36% delayed – 1 year follow-up-), while in 23% the vitality was conserved. In 34% of cases was observed root resorption (1 year follow-up).

Conclusions:
In our clinical experience, reimplantation shows good results for the esthetical and functional rehabilitation and underline the need of a therapeutical choice in order to the individual clinical records.
