15th International Congress “ quality in operative dentistry” Letter of the President Dear friends of Accademia Italiana di Conservativa, It is a great pleasure to invite you to the 15th International Congress of the Accademia Italiana di Conservativa. “Quality” is a very controversial issue and it has been defined with a pervasive and only apparently intuitive and simple concept in common language. Quality is a complex issue determined by several factors. Quality also means the ability to achieve the goals by using human efforts, time and financial resources in the most efficient way. As “dental supermarkets” seem to replace single-dentist practices, I believe it is important to wonder why all this is happening. Maybe the answer lies in the fact that patients nowadays are searching for solutions that combine professional services with low prices at which it is difficult to associate quality. These issues add further pressure onto professionals who are already being challenged by financial constraints. Since in time of economic crisis quality seems to be the only real solution to the problem, we have invited prestigious international speakers to lecture on the state of the art of “quality in operative dentistry&lrquo;. Several clinical topics, both conventional and innovative, will be debated to produce stimulating contributions about cost-effectiveness and biological and economic viewpoint of the most usually adopted treatment options. Lectures will help us get ready for our future professional challenges with proper information and motivation to overcome problems looming ahead. In addition to the welcome coffee and the social dinner, this year (this is something new for our Academy) lunch on Friday and Saturday at the Conference Center is included in the attendance fee.
